State Street Houses Association
The State Street Houses Association (SSHA) represents the individuals and families living on State Street between Smith & Hoyt Streets, directly east of the Brooklyn House of Detention.

The State Street Houses are a unique blend of old and new architecture that superbly reflect the balance between long standing residents and more recently arrived neighbors. Twenty-three homes on the block are recognized by the Landmarks Preservation Commission of New York City and listed on the National Register of Historic Places. As a complement to these historic homes stand fourteen award-winning contemporary townhouses completed in 2006 that expand on State Street's architectural heritage.

As participants in the Stakeholders Group, the SSHA strives to achieve balance between quality of life issues of its residents and the needs or our larger community.
